I finally bit the bullet and ordered some camera gear today. I made my purchase from B&H Photo. I purchased my camera body and my 50mm f/1.8 from them. They have some of the best prices around and are great company if you want to order online.
I really needed a new lens cap and a spare battery.
We lost our lens cap for our 18-200 lens a couple months ago. It flew off when Ryan popped out the window of my moving car at 60mph to take photos of the cars behind us on our Subaru drive. It actually hit one of our friends windshield. Oops.
We've needed a spare battery for a while. If the one that came with the camera runs our while we're doing anything, we're done for. It takes at least an hour to charge properly. This has been an issue multiple times.
I really wanted a remote shutter release, a fish eye adapter and the Nikkor 35mm f/1.8 prime lens.
The remote shutter release will be perfect for low light/long exposure shots. I've been having to use the timer to release the shutter in order to not bump the camera. This remote is wireless and will also be great for taking pictures of Ryan and I together or any time we want to take photos with everyone in them.
The fish eye adapter is just a fun little toy. It was rather inexpensive so I am not expecting too much from it, but I think it will be fun to mess around with.
And finally... the Nikkor 35mm f/1.8 prime lens is something I've had my eye on for a while. Last summer at West Coast Subaru Show a guy we met had the lens and said he loved it. I've read a ton of reviews and think it will be a great addition to what I already use. It will have a lot of the same characteristics as the 50mm 1.8 but without such a close zoom. I'm VERY excited to use it and I think Ryan will enjoy using it more as it's more user friendly.
Super excited!
